시놉시스Synopsis
<아버지의 요리책>은 부모님과 사이가 소원해진 레바논 이민 3세대 사리크 칼릴이 아버지가 뇌졸중으로 쓰러진 후 부모님과 화해하는 이야기를 담고 있다. 사리크는 아버지의 레바논 식당을 물려받아 가족의 유산을 지켜나갈 것인지 아니면 자신의 꿈을 이루기 위해 식당을 팔 것인지 선택의 기로에 서 있다. <아버지의 요리책>은 인종의 용광로라 불리는 미국에서 고국의 문화와 부자관계를 지키기 위해 우리가 치러야 하는 희생을 진정성 있게 그리는 작품이다.
<The Cookbook> tells the story of Sarikh Kalil, a third-generation Lebanese immigrant who reunites with his estranged parents in Central New York after his father suffers a debilitating stroke. Sarikh is faced with a choice: take over his father’s Lebanese restaurant and preserve his familial heritage, or sell out to pursue his American Dream. <The Cookbook> is a heartfelt story about the sacrifices we make for family, preserving culture in melting-pot America and father-son relationships.

포르투갈 출신의 페드로 차베스 감독은 Tiense Suiker, Enfocus, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, SNCB, Candico, Alpro, GymStory 등의 기업에서 다양한 분야를 망라하는 크리에이티브 디렉터, 작가, 영화 제작자로 일했다. 그의 방대한 연출 및 제작 크레딧에는 유튜브에서 2,500만 회 이상의 조회수를 기록한 줄리아 미카엘의 히트곡 ‘Issues’에 대한 바이럴 가사 비디오와 칸영화제에서 상영된 장편영화 등이 있다. 그는 현재 파트너, 딸, 고양이 세 마리와 함께 포르투갈에 살고 있다.
Pedro Chaves is a Portuguese director who has worked as a multidisciplinary creative director, writer and filmmaker for companies like Tiense Suiker, Enfocus, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, SNCB, Candico, Alpro, GymStory and others. His vast directing and producing credits include Julia Michael’s viral lyrics video for her hit song Issues, which has over 25 million views on YouTube, and a feature film that screened at the market at Cannes Film Festival. He currently lives in Portugal, with his partner, daughter and three cats.
