시놉시스Synopsis
한적한 산속에서 홀로 살며 직접 재배한 채소로 음식을 해 먹으며 살아가는 츠토무(사와다 켄지)는 자연의 흐름과 함께하는 자신의 삶을 써 내려가는 작가이다. 13년 전 타계한 아내의 유골은 여전히 매장하지 못한 채, 가끔 찾아오는 편집자 마치코(마츠 다카코)를 위해 요리하는 것을 즐기는 일상 속에서, 그는 지난날을 떠올리고 자신의 삶과 죽음에 대해 생각한다.
Tsutomu, living alone in a tranquil mountain, sustains himself by cooking with vegetables he personally cultivates, embracing a life in sync with the natural flow. He is not only a writer but also a contemplator of his existence, with the unburied remains of his wife, who passed away 13 years ago, still present. Amidst his daily routine of finding joy in cooking for the occasional visitor, Machiko, a editor, he reminisces about the past and contemplates his own life and death.

일본 교토 출신. 1980년 류큐대학교에 농학 전공으로 입학하면서 오키나와로 이주했으며 대학교 영화제작 동아리에서 영화를 시작했다. 나카에 유지의 영화는 국내외에서 모두 많은 사랑을 받았다. 1992년 옴니버스 영화인 <파인애플 투어즈>의 두 번째 에피소드 ‘하루코와 히데요시’를 감독하며 제42회 베를린국제영화제 포럼 부문에 초청받았고, 1999년에는 <할머니의 사랑>으로 제50회 베를린 국제영화제에서 NETPAC상을 수상했다. 2002년 작품인 <호텔 히비스커스>는 제53회 베를린국제영화제 포럼 부문에 초청됐고 제15회 도쿄영화제에서 특별 심사위원상을 수상했다. 2005년에는 크랭크 주식회사의 대표이사로 임명되었고, 사쿠라자카 극장을 개관하는 등 다방면에서 활동을 계속하고 있다.
Born in Kyoto and relocated to Okinawa when he began his studies at Ryukyu University in 1980 as agriculture major. He started making films while he was in Ryukyu University Filmmaking Club. Nakae's films have enjoyed both domestic and international acclaim. In 1992 Nakae directed ‘Haruko and Hideyoshi’ the second episode of the omnibus film <Pineapple Tours> which was invited to the Forum section of the 42nd Berlin International Film Festival and his 1999 <Nabbie’s Love> received the NETPAC Award at the 50th Berlin International Film Festival. His 2002 film <Hotel Hibiscus> was invited to the 53rd Berlin International Film Festival Forum section and it also received the Special Jury Award at the 15th Tokyo Film Festival. In 2005 Nakae was appointed CEO of Crank, Co. Ltd. and he opened Sakurazaka Theatre.
